Wendt Multisite
Wendt, a global powerhouse in industrial equipment manufacturing, required a robust and scalable web solution to effectively manage their international presence. To meet this need, I led the development of a multi-site network during my time at Helm. This multi-site architecture allowed Wendt to manage multiple regional websites under a single WordPress installation, streamlining content management and ensuring consistency across their global digital presence.
A key feature of this project was the creation of an IP-based redirection system. This system automatically detects the geographic location of a visitor based on their IP address and redirects them to the appropriate regional site. For example, a visitor from India would be directed to the Indian site, while someone from England would be taken to the UK-specific site. This ensured that visitors received content and information tailored to their region, improving user experience and relevance.
The multi-site network not only enhanced Wendt’s ability to manage their international websites but also provided a scalable solution that could easily be expanded as the company grew. The IP-based redirection system further solidified Wendt’s commitment to delivering localized content to their diverse global audience.

My Role
As the lead developer on the Wendt multi-site project at Helm, I was responsible for overseeing the entire development process, from initial planning to final deployment. I managed the creation of the multi-site network, ensuring that each regional site was properly configured and integrated within the larger network. This involved setting up the WordPress multi-site infrastructure, configuring domain mappings for each region, and ensuring seamless content management across all sites.
In addition to the multi-site setup, I developed the IP-based redirection system, which was a critical component of the project. This system utilized IP geolocation to automatically detect a visitor’s location and redirect them to the appropriate regional site. I implemented this feature to ensure that users received region-specific content, enhancing the overall user experience and ensuring compliance with local regulations and preferences.
Throughout the project, I collaborated with other developers, designers, and stakeholders to ensure that the solution met Wendt’s needs and aligned with their global strategy. My work on this project demonstrated my ability to lead complex, large-scale web development projects and create innovative solutions that address specific business challenges. The successful implementation of the multi-site network and IP-based redirection system significantly improved Wendt’s ability to manage and deliver content to their global audience.
